At a press conference today in Albany, Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) stood with leaders in the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the New York Biotechnology Association (NYBA), a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to the development and growth of New York State-based biotechnology-related industries and institutions, as well as baseball legend, Darryl Strawberry, in an effort to showcase the role New York State is playing in the development of new medicines this year.
SENATE PASSES STACHOWSKI BILL TO RENAME ROUTE 20 THE “HIGHWAY OF FALLEN HEROES”
Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) today announced that legislation (S.6748) he sponsors to designate State Route 20 as the "Highway of Fallen Heroes" has been passed by the New York State Senate.
In support of “Earth Day 2010,” Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) voted to approve legislation which recently passed the State Senate designed to implement protections to reduce waste and pollution in New York State.
“The actions we take today to protect our natural resources and our environment will have a direct impact on generations to come,” said Senator Stachowski. “These measures will help safeguard our health and well-being and our overall quality of life.”
“We have a responsibility to every taxpaying New Yorker to ensure that their tax dollars are being used in the absolute most efficient way possible. When we find the kind of waste in state agency services that we are uncovering now in the Department of Transportation, it is imperative that we address this problem immediately. Every New Yorker should have the confidence that their tax dollars are serving a real purpose for the good of our state and of our local communities.
The reforms are in Gov. David A. Paterson’s executive budget bill. The Senate chose to include these reforms in its budget resolution, thanks to a strong push by State Sen. William T. Stachowski, D-Lake View, and Senate Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson of Brooklyn, with support from the Western New York delegation. But the Assembly’s budget resolution cut out these same reforms and, worse, both chambers did not restore funding for public universities.
