Senator Volker, Senator Young, Assemblyman Errigo And Assemblyman Burling Secure Empire Zones For Livingston And Wyoming Counties

(DEPEW, N.Y.) – Senator Dale M. Volker, Senator Catharine Young, Assemblyman Joseph Errigo and Assemblyman Daniel Burling today announced that under their advocacy that Governor Pataki has approved Livingston County for Empire Zone designation. Wyoming County will receive their Empire Zone designation by the end of the year.

Yesterday, the Governor announced that Livingston County has received Empire Zone credentials.

Gun Trafficking Blame Game

Unfortunately, the death of NYPD Detective Dillon Stewart has become the political pawn of a public policy issue in the State Legislature that impacts the lives of all New Yorkers. At the heart of the matter is whether the current criminal statutes appropriately punishes the perpetrator who uses an illegal handgun in the commission of a crime. It is safe to say that the current statute is blatantly soft, unfair, weak, and sends the absolute wrong message.

Common sense dictates that this statute needs fixing.

(DEPEW, N.Y.) – Senator Dale M. Volker today announced that he has secured $20,000 in state funds for Angel Action--A volunteer program of Community Action for Wyoming County. Angel Action is a grassroots organization founded by Pat Standish to benefit everyone needing assistance including the "working poor".
