Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced that he has secured $23,000 to assist in the construction of a new playground at the Gorham Elementary School. Senator Volker secured these state funds as part of the adopted 2005-2006 State Budget.

Volker Announces Senate Plan To End State Gas Tax Windfall, Helps Seniors Stay Warm

(ALBANY, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew), along with members of the Senate Majority, announced a proposal to end to government "profiteering" on high gas prices. The plan calls for a cap on the sales tax to provide immediate price relief to motorists, and the utilization of those sales tax receipts already accumulated gas tax windfall to help seniors stay warm this winter.

Senator Dale M. Volker Announces New State Law To Allow Hunting In The Southern Tier

(Albany, NY) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-I-C, Depew) today announced that Governor George E. Pataki has enacted his bill into law (S.918), which would allow sportsmen to hunt deer and bear in the southern tier counties with rifles.

"This new law is a common sense approach to humanely thinning out our deer herds, stopping the spread of Lyme Disease in many Southern Tier counties and allows sportsmen and sportswomen to have enhanced opportunities in participating in our cultural heritage," said Senator Dale M. Volker.

Consumers Need To Know-prescription Drug Prices To Be Posted On-line And Free Credit Checks Now Available

They say that information is key to making informed decisions. Well, today New Yorkers have two new programs that will allow them to comparison shop for their prescription drugs on-line as well as get a free credit report from the "Big Three" national credit agencies.

During this past legislative session, a little known bill passed both Houses of the State Legislature, and was signed into law by Governor Pataki, that will require prescription drug prices to be posted online to give consumers easy access to the drug price list.

Senator Dale M. Volker Announces Medicaid Savings For Western New York

(Albany, N.Y.) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced substantial savings under the first two years of the State’s historic cap and takeover of the local share of the Medicaid program.

Under the new Medicaid cap -- which the State Senate and the Governor fought for in this year’s State Budget -- counties and New York City will realize a cumulative total of $6.5 billion in savings over the next five years, beginning in 2006.
