Stachowski (D, Lake View) tonight announced the New York State Senate has passed the historic Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (S.2311-A) which would make New York the first state in the nation to provide new standards of worker protection for more than 200,000 employees in an industry which has gone unregulated for decades.

Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) today announced that legislation (S.5111) he cosponsored to help men and women who volunteer in their local fire or ambulance companies qualify for more affordable health insurance has been signed into law by Governor Paterson. Chapter 71 of the Laws of 2010 allows any public corporation to extend health services and insurance to volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
Senator William T. Stachowski today joined the statewide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) community for a special remembrance ceremony in Albany which honored Louis J. Flury of the Union Fire Company in West Seneca, New York who died in the line of duty July 26, 1987, as well as two other EMS workers from Cape Vincent and Hudson Valley who lost their lives in service to others. Members of the Union Fire Company and Vigilant Fire Department from Ebenezer, New York also participated in today’s ceremony.

SENATOR STACHOWSKI SPONSORS RIGHT TO LIFE LOBBY DAY IN ALBANY
Senator William T. Stachowski (D-C, Lake View), today sponsored the New York State Right To Life Committee’s 2010 Lobby For Life Day in Albany.
A bi-partisan, multi-faith and multi-cultural gathering of approximately 150 members of the statewide Right To Life Committee convened in Albany to listen to legislative leaders speak in support of the Committee’s positions before members proceeded to meet with state representatives.
In support of “Earth Day 2010,” Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) voted to approve legislation which recently passed the State Senate designed to implement protections to reduce waste and pollution in New York State.
“The actions we take today to protect our natural resources and our environment will have a direct impact on generations to come,” said Senator Stachowski. “These measures will help safeguard our health and well-being and our overall quality of life.”
