(ALBANY, N.Y.) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today advanced legislation that would deter human trafficking, sex tourism and related activities; and to punish those who engage in human trafficking and promoting sex tourism, and those who patronize trafficking victims for prostitution.

"On February 2, 2006, the Senate Committee on Codes commenced a public hearing to discuss human trafficking in New York State and what we need to do as a legislative body to address this criminal activity," said Senator Dale M. Volker.

Senator Dale M. Volker Urges "cap" On State Gas Tax

(ALBANY, N.Y.) Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today called for a cap on state gas taxes to immediately roll back gas prices and stop state government from reaping windfall profits from rising prices.

Senator Volker said the State Senate’s plan would "cap" the sales tax, which is indexed to the price of gas and rises along with prices, on just the first $2 of the per gallon price.

Medicaid And Your Recent Erie County Tax Bill

Recently, you received your Erie County tax bill in the mail. I was astounded by an erroneous and misleading statement that the 22% property tax increase was due to Medicaid.

Here are the real facts.

The State has taken over the county’s share of Family Health Plus saving Erie County taxpayers in fiscal year 2005-2006, $7.4 million and in fiscal year 2006-2007, $13.5 million. Additionally, the State has capped standard Medicaid costs for Erie County as well, which have saved taxpayers in fiscal year 2005-2006, $2.9 million and in fiscal year 2006-2007, $17.1 million.
