Kenneth B. Fleiger has devoted a life time to service of his community, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and his family; and

Kenneth B. Fleiger was born in New York City on April 23, 1937, and he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956 and transferred to the Marine Corp Reserve in 1958, returning to Active Duty in January of 1963; and

Kenneth B. Fleiger served honorably in Vietnam from January of 1963 to May of 1969 and was placed on permanent disability in 1973 due to his military service; and

While in the military, Kenneth B. Fleiger served as part of the Marine Barracks Honor Guard in Washington, District of Columbia, in addition to his tours of service in Vietnam and Japan; and

Kenneth B. Fleiger joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Empire Post 375 in 1991 and became a rifle team member and served as the Junior Vice Commander for six years in addition to his service as Chairman of the Adopt a Platoon Program, Vice Chairman of the House Committee, as Captain of the Color Guard and served three years as the Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms for the New York Department of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and

For his military service, Kenneth B. Fleiger was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, The National Defense Medal, A Marine Corp Expeditionary Medal with a star, A Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Ribbon and the Pistol Sharpshooter Badge in addition to several letters of appreciation; and

The late Kenneth B. Fleiger could be depended upon to do whatever needed doing, for his family, his friends and his fellow veterans; and

Kenneth B. Fleiger has been a true patriot, veteran, community member and family man and he will be posthumously honored for his service to our country and our community as a 2010 inductee to the New York State Senate Hall of Honor; now, therefore be it
