Senator Winner in debate on the floor of the New York State Senate
Albany, N.Y.—Earlier this year State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) took to the floor of the New York State Senate -- as he's done hundreds of times in both the Assembly and Senate over the past three decades he's served in the Legislature -- this time to build support for legislation he sponsored in 2010 to require the state to provide personal income tax refunds within 30 days after a taxpayer files a return.
Winner said that the issue, which some called the “Refund Revolt,” tapped into the No. 1 frustration being expressed by citizens across the region he represents – Albany’s disdain for the taxpayer – and gave individual citizens a chance to voice their anger.
Senator Winner announced today that he will not seek re-election this fall.
