On January 26, 2010, the New York State Senate brought a Legislative Resolution to the floor paying tribute and remembering 59 members of the United States Armed Forces who were from, or were stationed in New York and who lost their lives in 2009, while fighting on behalf of the United States and the State of New York. This resolution was co-sponsored by Senator Adams (Chairman of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security) and Senator Leibell (Ranking Member of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security). The New York State Senate is committed to honoring and remembering the individuals who put country before self. This resolution is a small token of the New York State Senate’s appreciation for the ultimate sacrifice that these 59 individuals paid in an effort to preserve the freedom of Americans and to secure freedom for citizens of the Afghanistan and Iraq nations. Senator Leibell extends his most heartfelt condolences to families of those 59 brave members of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives in 2009.
