Capitol Report with Senator John DeFrancisco, June 16th, 2010
More than half of the budget has been passed by weekly budget extenders with only $1.1 billion in cuts having been made.
Since the deficit is $9.2 billion, it is obviously unlikely that $8.1 billion in cuts will be found in the portion of the budget that remains to be done.
As I've said from the beginning, the piecemeal manner in which the budget is being passed by the Senate Democrats will inevitably lead our state to more taxes and borrowing. I will continue to fight against new taxes and borrowing.
