Senator LaValle Welcomes National Champion Rocky Point Cheerleaders
New York State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle (R-C-I, Port Jefferson) and Assemblyman Dan Losquadro (R,C-Shoreham) welcomed the Rocky Point High School Varsity Cheerleading Team to the state Capitol and presented the team with a proclamation on the steps of the Million Dollar Staircase for their extraordinary achievements. In February, the team won the National Championship in the Universal Cheerleaders Association’s Medium Varsity Division in Orlando, Florida.
During their visit to Albany, the Rocky Point Cheerleading Team was introduced in both chambers of the legislature and had resolutions passed in honor of their achievements by Senator LaValle and Assemblyman Losquadro.
The Rocky Point Cheerleading Team includes squad members: Nicole Danisi, Rebecca Farley, Heather Haas, Angela Henriksen, Cori Icopelli, Elizabeth Johannesen, Ally Kaleita, Amanda Lang, Kaity Moran, Emily Cincotta, Heidi Lebens, Margie Nociforo, Briana Norbury, Haley Sanchez, Stephanie Savage, Paige Thomsen, Sarah Vaden, Sarah Viola, Melissa Carniero, Naomi Bauer, Jenna Orlando, Megan Keane, Kim Oliver, Jacklyn Lang, and Danielle Ortolani; as well as Head Coach Anna Spallina, and Assistant Coaches Samantha Melella, Lenee Passiglia, and Donna Collier.
