(09/21/12) WESTCHESTER- State Sen. Greg Ball hosted a roundtable discussion today focusing on how public-private partnerships can help fund projects such as a future mass transit component on the new Tappan Zee Bridge span.

The meeting held at the Mount Kisco Library was designed to outline why partnerships called ‘P3s’ may be the answer to the growing problem of how to fund a future mass transit component on the new bridge. The cost of the new span is now just over $5 billion. Estimates triple when including a mass transit option.

Sources in the Cuomo administration tell News 12 the governor did pass P3 legislation last year and that the administration is creating a mass transit task force with local community leaders to handle the transit issue.

Ball says he’s working with Assembly leaders in Albany to move forward with P3 legislation next year. (ARTICLE)
