State University Chancellor Nancy Zimpher, questioned by Senator Patty Ritchie during today's Higher Education budget hearing, provides an update on the shared services--and shared presidents--initiative at the Canton and Potsdam campuses.

Senator Ritchie has been challenging SUNY's central admionistration to find operational savings in other ways than to eliminate the college presidencies, arguing that the campuses need independent leadership.

Earlier, SUNY committed to an announcement a leadership search sometime this year, and Chancellor Zimpher says more information will be forthcoming athe the SUNY Board's March meeting, which is currently scheduled for March 18 and 19, at the SUNY Purchase campus.

The chancellor's comments came at the public hearing held today on the Higher Education portion of Governor Cuomo's 2013-14 Executive Budget. Senator Ritchie is a member of the Senate's Higher Education Committee.
