Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins Recognizes Joshua Colas, Youngest African-American Chess Master in History

    Once the resolution was read aloud, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins stood and spoke on Joshua Colas' accomplishments. The Senator listed his many awards in chess including his six national championships and his status a the top chess player in New York City as well as New York State. Senator Stewart-Cousins stated, "He inspires other youth... He is here because we're proud of him, because he is a role model." The Senator also discussed Colas' dream to attend MIT and the Senator hopes this resolution will help this dream come true. Senator Stewart-Cousins concluded, "We can't wait to see his next move."
