FIGHT TO STOP PORT AUTHORITY TOLL INCREASES
On August 19th, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey will vote on a proposal to increase tolls on some the busiest bridges and tunnels in the New York area. If approved, drivers with E-Z pass will be facing a fifty percent increase in round-trip tolls to use the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, and the bridges connecting Staten Island and New Jersey. Families which are struggling to get by should not have to pay substantially more just to get to work or visit a loved one.
Businesses that are hanging on by a thread will have to pay nearly 100 percent more in round-trip truck tolls. These costs ultimately get passed down to us in the form of higher prices, which will hinder economic development, prevent job creation, and force us to pay more once again. In these tough economic times, that’s the last thing we need.
Join the fight and sign my petition below which calls for the Port Authority Board of Commissioners and Governor Cuomo to reject this proposed plan.
