Join the Fight! Keep Our Upstate Correctional Facilities Open!

When the New York State Department of Correctional Services needed to build new prisons some 30 years ago and many communities said “No,” several Upstate communities said “Yes” for the good of New York State. Over the past three decades, the good paying jobs at these facilities have enabled hundreds of employees to earn a living and become part of the fabric of these communities.

The Governor’s proposed budget has put four correctional facilities—including the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility which is filled nearly to capacity with inmates—up for closure to save money on a budget balance sheet, even though the devastating negative economic impact to these communities will outweigh any proposed savings.

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LET THIS HAPPEN!

We must work together to keep the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility, the Moriah Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility, the Lyon Mountain Correctional Facility, and the minimum security portion of the Butler Correctional Facility open.
