Protecting Our 2nd Amendment Rights

Dear Friend,

Calls to my office have been overwhelmingly against the State's new gun control law. I want you to know that I voted against that new law.

While recent tragedies have shaken many Americans, and are truly heart-breaking, I believe that legally purchased weapons owned by law abiding citizens are not the issue. The real issue and threat we face in our community is possession of guns by dangerous criminals and access to guns by the seriously mentally ill.

The new State law does not have to be the last word in this important debate. I believe we should focus on increasing penalties for criminals who use firearms and addressing the issue of mental illness. I invite you to join in this effort by signing my petition in support of repealing this law, and instead enacting laws which truly protect New Yorkers.

Increased penalties for illegal use of guns is something I and many others support. Increased efforts to ensure the mentally ill cannot access guns is something we all can support. Criminalizing the conduct of law-abiding, responsible New Yorkers though, is not something I support.

I need strong Second Amendment supporters like you to voice your opinions and stand with me, so please sign my petition to build public support in opposition to this restrictive gun control measure. If every New Yorker who supports the Second Amendment makes their voices heard, we can advance true public safety legislation that addresses the real issues of dangerous criminals and mental health without curtailing our Second Amendment rights.

Now is the time to be heard! I urge every gun owner, hunter, sportsman and supporter of the Second Amendment to join this effort.

YES, Senator Bonacic, I support your efforts to preserve and protect the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding New Yorkers. Keep standing strong for our Constitutional Freedoms!
