Undergraduate Internship Application

 

    How to Apply: In order to be eligible for the Undergraduate Session Assistants Program you must submit a completed application along with the required writing samples and documents. There are two ways to apply: electronically and by mail. As each college/university’s policy may vary regarding the processing of your application, it is important that you contact your Campus Liaison Officer prior to electronically submitting an application to the Senate Student Programs Office. A digital application is preferred. However, if you are unable to submit the application online, you can print out the Undergraduate Session Assistant Application Form and mail to:

    A digital application consists of the following:

    • First Name;
    • Last Name;
    • Email address;
    • A completed Undergraduate Session Assistant Application Form (download PDF & upload);
    • A Signed Student Statement in Regard to Preparations and Understandings (must be included in Undergraduate Session Assistant Application Form & uploaded with above document);
    • A signed Faculty Certification of Endorsement and Current Coursework (see note below*) must be included in the Undergraduate Session Assistant Application Form & uploaded with above document;
    • Three (3) legislative policy area preferences (Use selection box on website form);
    • A one page resume (uploaded through form);
    • A 6-8 page essay or paper (uploaded through form);
    • Memoranda A - one (1) page policy proposal (uploaded through form);
    • Memoranda B - one (1) page policy rebuttal (uploaded through form);
    • Personal Statement -see application directions (uploaded through form);
    • Three (3) signed confidential letters of reference from persons familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities and professional aptitude (emailed or mailed directly from the Professor to students@nysenate.gov);
    • Official Transcripts of all collegiate work (must be mailed, see note below**).

    * Before submitting this application your on-campus Advisor-of–Record must certify that you are enrolled full time throughout the immediate previous spring semester, are enrolled full time during the current fall semester, and have the endorsement of such faculty to apply for and, if selected, to enroll and earn on-campus credit for participation in the Undergraduate Session Assistants Program under the standards and rules of your college and Senate guidelines.

    ** Official Transcripts must be sealed and mailed to the Student Programs Office:
