Free Mammography Screenings Sponsored by Senator Lanza

On Saturday, Aug. 6th Senator Lanza will continue his sponsorship of Project Renewal's Scan Van Program to offer free clinical breast exams and mammography screenings to women across Staten Island.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women in New York State and until the cause and cure is found, the best tool in the fight against breast cancer is education and early detection.
A mammogram can detect breast cancer almost 24 months before it can be manually detected, facilitating earlier diagnosis and treatment which increase the chance of survival.

The American Cancer Society recommends an annual mammogram for women beginning at the age of 40, earlier if there is a history in the family. Screenings are available to women 40 and older who have not
had a mammogram in the past year. All insurance plans are accepted and co-payments and deductibles are waived.

If you have not yet done so, please schedule a mammogram now. Screenings are being offered on the following dates:

Saturday, August 6th
St. Margaret Mary Church
560 Midland Ave., Staten Island
Appointments begin at 9 a.m.

An appointment is necessary and can be made by calling 1-800-564-6868.
