STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Did you know that state law requires that a child under the age of 8 and under the height of 4-foot-9 must use a booster seat?

When should a child be changed from a rear-facing position to forward-facing? At what weight should a child start using a booster seat?

Learn about the safety guidelines for children's car seats and the state requirements at an informational session being held at Richmond University Medical Center on Tuesday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Officials from the hospital and the Department of Transportation's Department Safety Education will be on hand to inspect car seats and help educate parents and caregivers about the importance of properly installed child restraints.
