Veterans Mental Health Hearing

Video Archive

Mental health among veterans remains largely undiscussed, yet poses a major barrier to veterans' lifestyle and wellbeing. Traumatic brain Injury, post traumatic depression and major depression negatively impact veterans' behaviors and relationships and can manifest into more destructive behaviors such as substance abuse. Too often, veterans feel shame, embarrassment or fear surrounding mental health issues. The stigma needs to end. The goal of the hearing is to determine the best approaches that New York state government can implement to help those affected to receive treatment they deserve in order to make a full recovery.
