Foreclosure Prevention Program- Elmont

     Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) and Senator Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) are partnering with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to provide services and assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure.

     Senator Martins and Senator Skelos have arranged to have DFS’ Mobile Foreclosure Relief Center come to Elmont on Thursday, August 7th from 10 am to 6 pm at the Clara H. Carlson School (235 Belmont Boulevard, Elmont).

     DFS staff members will be on hand to speak individually with homeowners about their situation and:

     • Assist homeowners in their efforts to obtain loan modifications and other relief;

     • Provide information on available federal programs;

     • Inform homeowners about their rights and answer questions about the foreclosure process; and

     • Help homeowners seek resolutions with banks and mortgage servicers, as well as take complaints from homeowners who believe they were victims of predatory lending or other abuses.

     Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. The program is open to everyone and no appointments are necessary.

     Residents who would like more information about this program can call Senator Martins’ office at 516-746-5924 or Senator Skelos’ office at 516-766-8383. Homeowners who are unable to attend the program but need assistance can call the Department of Financial Services’ foreclosure hotline at 1-800-342-3736 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
