Brooklynite Shirley Chisholm was a true catalyst of change. She made history by becoming the first African-American woman elected to Congress. Because of her values, Barack Obama became the first African-American President in 2008.
Senator Hamilton, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, and Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo will continue her legacy by recognizing the achievements of iconic Brooklyn women on Friday, March 18th at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
