Forum/Town Hall: Making Sure We Count: Hispanics and Census 2010 by Senator Malave Dilan

Latinos have a significant stake in the outcome of the 2010 Census. The count will determine the distribution of billions of federal dollars for education, affordable housing, job training and other critical community services. The Census also forms the very foundation of America's representative system of governance, directly impacting the kind of electoral opportunities and representation our community will have over the next decade. Speakers will discuss the ongoing work by government and community leaders to ensure a full and accurate count of Hispanics in New York State. This session will also highlight how the census will define the process of drawing new maps and new district boundaries for political seats.
