Free Prostate Cancer Screening

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in men.  The American Cancer Society estimates 180,000 new cases of prostate cancer to be diagnosed each year, with more than 26,000 succumbing to the disease.  Early detection of prostate cancer saves lives, which is why I’m partnering with Winthrop Urology to provide free prostate cancer screening.

Winthrop Urology and I will be holding a FREE Prostate Screening on Thursday September 28th, at Winthrop Urology (1300 Franklin Avenue, Suite ML 6, Garden City).

The screenings will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.

Registration is required and appointments can be made by calling my Community Office at 516-739-1700.  Screenings will include a PSA blood test and an optional digital rectal exam.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month so now is a perfect time to schedule a free screening -- if caught early, prostate cancer can be very treatable.  About one man in seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime, and about six cases in 10 are diagnosed in men 65 and older. It’s extremely important for men to be tested, as early as the age of 40.
