EDUCATIONAL EVENT FOR CAREGIVERS

            Senator Kenneth P. LaValle will partner with Day Haven Adult Day Services in offering a FREE educational program providing information and support to caregivers of family members diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or related dementia.   The workshop will be held Saturday, September 26, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port Jefferson Free Library.  Reservations are required. 

The day-long workshop will include informational presentations by experts in the field of aging and dementia care.  The topics of discussion focus on many facets of care and are geared to assist caregivers in helping their loved one maintain dignity, safety, and security in their life.  Scheduled seminars include managing behaviors, safety in the home, community resources, elder law, and activities to do with people with dementia.

This is a free event and is open to the general public.  Registration is required as lunch will be served and space is limited.  Please contact Julie Wexler at 631-585-2020 ext. 260 to reserve.
