Forum/Town Hall: Rally To Save Lake Shore Hospital

The following is a letter sent to my constituents in the towns of Evans and Brant informing them of a rally scheduled to take place this Saturday, January 11th:

Dear Friend,

I am sure you have heard recently on the news that Lake Shore Hospital may soon be closed. This situation is of great concern to me because I believe if the facility were to be shut down it would be a terrible blow to our community, specifically for residents of the towns of Brant and Evans, the villages of Farnham and Angola and the many residents who live in Derby, Irving and other surrounding communities.

Despite the efforts of some federal, state and local elected officials to save the hospital, we need YOUR help and support to try and stop the decision to limit access to vital health services and emergency care and create the loss of hundreds of jobs.

I ask you to please mark your calendars and plan on joining myself, New York State Senator Catherine Young and New York State Assemblymen Andy Goodell and Joe Giglio at what is being called the “Rally to Save Lake Shore Hospital.” The event is scheduled to take place this Saturday, January 11 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Silver Creek High School, located at 1 Dickinson Street in Silver Creek.

The importance of keeping Lake Shore Hospital open cannot be overstated. The long-term impact would include an increase in travel times to the emergency room for local residents, the loss of quality health care in our community, the elimination of hundreds of good paying jobs and economic decline, all devastating consequences we would experience if the closure of the facility becomes a reality.

I want to thank those of you have already voiced your opinions by making phone calls, writing letters, sending e-mails and signing petitions. Your efforts truly are appreciated. Please continue to do so and encourage others to also take the time to experience their opinion.

The rally on January 11 is our chance to have our voices heard and send a clear message that we need this hospital to stay open. A tremendous turnout at the rally WILL have an impact so please plan on attending and ask your family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers to do the same.

Please consider this letter a sign of my personal thanks to you for your support to save Lake Shore Hospital. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my district office by calling (716) 854-8705 or sending an e-mail to: grisanti@nysenate.gov.

I look forward to seeing you this Saturday!

Regards,

New York State Senator Mark Grisanti
