On Friday, June 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Wyandanch Senior Nutrition Center (28 Wyandanch Ave.), Senator Johnson is co-sponsoring a program with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to help families facing foreclosure.   

           As part of the program, homeowners will be able to speak individually with DFS specialists, who will assess where they are in the pre-foreclosure or foreclosure process, and provide them with:

            * Information about specific loan modification programs which may be available to them.

            * Guidance on how they can file complaints with the Department so that suspected cases of lender or mortgage servicer abuses, such as predatory lending practices, can be investigated.

            Homeowners should bring copies of their mortgage documents, loan payment records, letters from their lenders or mortgage servicers, or any other information relevant to their personal situation which could be useful to DFS staff in helping to provide assistance. No appointments are necessary. Homeowners will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.
