related issues:

On Friday, February 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Lindenhurst Public Library (1 Lee Avenue, Lindenhurst), Senator Boyle is co-sponsoring a program with the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) to help residents needing assistance with Sandy-related insurance issues.

The DFS specialists will be available to meet with residents on an individual basis inside the Department’s Mobile Command Center, a 36-foot long vehicle which will be on site at the Lindenhurst Public Library Parking Lot, 1 Lee Avenue, in Lindenhurst, NY 11757.

Representatives of DFS will be available to help homeowners, renters and business owners with insurance-related issues stemming from damage caused by Storm Sandy.

According to the Department, DFS representatives will be able to:

     • Answer questions about the insurance claims process;

     • Help residents seek resolution with an insurer;

     • Help residents obtain release of insurance money from their bank;

     • Help file an official complaint against an insurer;

     • Provide information on local, state, and federal relief programs.

DFS advises residents to bring copies of their insurance documents, payment records, and correspondence with their insurer.

Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about homeowners', renters' and business owners' insurance coverage.

No appointments are necessary.  Residents will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.
