'Shed the Meds' Drop-off

Every day in the United States 2,500 youth – ages 12 to 17 – abuse a prescription pain reliever for the first time.[1]  As we continue to address this opioid epidemic, it is important to focus on the unused medications that are leftover in our homes for anyone to get their hands on.

I will be hosting a “Shed the Meds” event, with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department that allows residents to drop off unwanted medications at the West Babylon Public Library.  By collecting and properly disposing unused household prescription drugs, we can help decrease the access of life-threatening medications as well as ensure these harmful materials do not damage our local water supply.

*Please note that syringes, sharp objects, or liquid medications will not be accepted.

If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, however you are unable to attend this event, please contact my District Office at 631-665-2311 for additional resources to assist you in this matter.
