Community Health Fair

(D-Jamaica)  Senator Shirley L. Huntley is teaming up with the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Public School/Middle School #156, Concerned Citizens of Laurelton and Merrick Pharmacy to sponsor a health fair in Laurelton, New York. The health fair will inform residents about Diabetes prevention and care, strengthening cardiovascular health, and proper nutrition.  Screenings for dental and asthma will also give guests a better perspective on their current health condition.

The New York Life Child ID Program, will provide parents the opportunity to give their children picture ID Cards so they can be easily identified in the event they are ever lost or missing (Parents must be present). This program will ensure that we are keeping our kids safe, informed, and identified with proper ID on them. Information will be given out regarding E.P.I.C. (Every Person Influences Children), a non-profit that helps families, schools, and communities raise responsible and capable adults. Several non-profit organizations as well city and state agencies will also provide information about their services.

In certain communities discussions on health and how to prevent or care for basic afflictions and diseases is often overlooked. This health fair will try to alleviate the lack of communication and advice certain people and families have received in the past. Hopefully, with new and well communicated information at hand more people will take the steps to live a healthy life.
