WNY Veterans: Join Us Friday, April 20 for Event Planned to Connect You to Support You’ve Earned in Service to Nation

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Timothy M. Kennedy, D-58th District, announced that he is holding an event to help connect Veterans to the services and support they earned while serving our great nation. Senator Kennedy’s Veterans Outreach Fair will be Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post at 2450 Walden Ave. in Cheektowaga.

Senator Kennedy invites Veterans from throughout Western New York to attend the event. Because space is limited at the Pvt. Leonard Post V.F.W. Post, all who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Senator Kennedy’s office at 716-826-2683.

“You’ve worked hard and fought bravely to keep our nation and our state strong. Now we want to ensure you are able to access the support and services you’ve earned and deserve,” said Senator Kennedy, addressing local Veterans. “Our Veterans Outreach Fair will be a one-stop information and services center where you can learn more about federal resources and state services, employment opportunities, how to start a business or career and much more. You’ll also be able to provide input and feedback to help ensure government is doing its best to serve all Veterans.”

Over 30 agencies and organizations have confirmed participation in the event. Some of the confirmed agencies include Buffalo Employment and Training Center, VA Medical Center, Local Colleges’ Veterans Service Agencies, Buffalo State Small Business Development Center, Department of Labor, Buffalo Veterans Center, Property Tax Exemption experts, Community Concern of WNY, Erie County Senior Services, Erie County Mental Health Association, Therapeutic Riding Center’s Horses for Heroes, Goodwill’s Veteran Placement Group, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Meals on Wheels, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program, WNY Veterans Housing Coalition, Zion House and many more.

Expert speakers will share experiences of post-service life and help connect Veterans to the support services that were critical in their personal stories. Senator Kennedy will also discuss legislative initiatives on Veterans issues.

“I hope Veterans from throughout Western New York will join us for our Veterans Outreach Fair,” Kennedy added. “This is an exciting opportunity to hear directly from Western New York’s Veterans about the issues and challenges they’ve experienced. We expect the event to be very beneficial for Veterans who may have questions or need help connecting with certain agencies or service providers.”

The Veterans Outreach Fair is a free event with breakfast available, compliments of Senator Kennedy, at no cost to taxpayers.
