The "Safe Roads in the Age of Legalization" Roundtable will be January 7, 2019 at the Barbara Hagan Center for Nursing at Molloy College, and will be a comprehensive discussion on the necessary safeguards New York State needs to implement to ensure roadway safety should recreational marijuana be decriminalized. The roundtable will feature lawmakers, industry specialists, law enforcement agents, prosecutors from states throughout the nation where decriminalization has already occurred, and more. Topics of discussion will be what has occurred in regards to traffic safety in other states, the current status of law enforcement's ability to detect marijuana consumption, the future of detection, and where the law currently stands in New York. The goal of the discussion will be to reach a consensus about what New York State needs to do to safely usher in the legalization of recreational marijuana and what legislation will be necessary to protect the roadways.
