Senator Velmanette Montgomery, Assemblywoman Diana C. Richardson, Assemblywoman Latrice Walker, and Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright sponsor “Voices from the Formerly Incarcerated: Reform and Re-Entry” as part of the 46th Annual New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators, Inc’s Conference Weekend. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, February 18th from 3:30pm - 4:45pm in Meeting Room 3 at the Empire State Plaza, Concourse in Albany.
The workshop will feature the people who have been directly affected and are using their experience to advocate for people who are presently in the position they were once in. The topics being discussed are housing, employment, therapeutic services, and important pieces of legislation such as Ban the Box, The Domestic Violence Survivors Act, and Raise the Age. We will also be exploring policy proposals from the panelists and steps we need to take in order to help transition the formerly incarcerated successfully back into society.
