Joint Legislative Public Hearing on 2019-2020 Executive Budget Proposal: Topic Mental HygieneLegislative Office Building

Senate Finance Committee Chair Liz Krueger and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair Helene E. Weinstein will hold the 10th in a series of 13 hearings on the 2019-2020 Executive Budget on Thursday, February 7th, at 9:30 a.m. in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building, Albany.
During the Mental Hygiene Hearing, government officials and representatives of advocacy groups for individuals with mental health disabilities will provide testimony to the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees.
These joint hearings will be available for viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites. The Legislative Channel (on cable systems throughout the state) also will carry the proceedings, which will be preempted when the houses are in session. At the conclusion of the legislative deliberations, the channel will resume televised coverage of the hearings.
Scheduled to provide testimony are New York State Office of Mental Health Commissioner Ann Marie T. Sullivan, New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities Acting Commissioner Kerry Delaney, New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez, and New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs Executive Director Denise Miranda.
Testimony is also expected from The Arc New York Executive Director Mark van Voorst, National Alliance on Mental Illness New York State Executive Director Wendy Burch, and New York State Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, Inc. Executive Director Harvey Rosenthal.
Others testifying include New York State Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare Executive Director Lauri Cole; and representatives of the New York State Public Employees Federation: Virginia Davey, Statewide Office of Mental Health Labor/Management Chair and Christine Pettit, Statewide Nurses Committee.
