For the second consecutive year, Senator Jack M. Martins and his colleagues in the Senate worked with the Governor to pass an on-time budget that doesn't raise any taxes or fees. At the same time, they closed the budget gap while increasing aid to education and restoring the EPIC program for seniors. The budget success of the last two years sends a clear message that positive change has come to Albany. Years of dysfunction have been replaced by sound fiscal management and government efficiency.

Senator Martins on 'Your Voice': Budget Again Will Not Raise Taxes or Fees

On the Internet show, "Your Voice," Senator Jack M. Martins spoke about the state budget, which again doesn't raise any taxes or fees. In additon, the Senator spoke about the legislation that was recently passed in the Senate to crack down on auto insurance fraud, efforts to rename the Roslyn Viaduct in honor of William Cullen Bryant, supporting local businesses and his participation in the Somos Spring Conference Mock Legislative Session.

Senators Martins and Zeldin Introduce Bill to Eliminate MTA Payroll Tax for All Local Governments

Senator Jack M. Martins and Senator Lee M. Zeldin held a press conference in Nassau County to announce legislation to repeal the MTA Payroll Tax for all villages, towns and counties. Joining the Senators were numerous elected officials included Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. The legislation result in relief for taxpayers.

Tax Cap Has Bi-Partisan Support

When the last legislative session began, Governor Cuomo and the Senate decided to enact an important measure to reign in out-of-control property tax increases. With bi-partisan support in the Senate and the Assembly, a 2 percent property tax cap was passed to slow the growth of taxes being imposed on families and businesses throughout the state and especially here on Long Island.

Senator Martins' 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Featured on Cablevision's Neighborhood Journal

The Summer extravaganza “Martins Classic 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament” sponsored by State Senator Jack Martins is a featured highlight on Cablevision’s “Neighborhood Journal” on Channel 118 throughout the month of August! The show features the 3-on-3 tournament along with interviews and highlights of the Henry Viscardi Cougars versus the Elmont Memorial Spartan’s basketball exhibition!

During the segment, you will see exciting basketball action, commentary and story behind the largest community event in Elmont outside the Belmont Stakes! Over 4,500 people participated in the tournament this year which was highlighted by the New York Knicks and a special guest appearance by John Starks!

Hightlights From the Historic Game Between Elmont Memorial High School and the Henry Viscardi School

On July 16, Senator Jack M. Martins sponsored the Elmont 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. As part of the special day, Senator Martins arranged a game between the Nassau County champion Elmont Memorial High School Spartans and the Henry Viscardi School Cougars.

The Spartans finally met their match as the Cougars emerged victorious. Check out the highlights!
