BILL NUMBER:A7665 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 203 of the laws of 1999, amend- ing the environmental conservation law relating to extending Nassau county's authority to initiate and enforce certain actions, in relation to the extension of Nassau county's authority to initiate and enforce certain actions PURPOSE: This bill extends until October 1, 2011, the authority of the Health Commissioner of Nassau County, pursuant to Environmental Conservation Law Section 71-1939, to enforce certain provisions of the Environmental Conservation Law for water pollution control. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill amends Section 2 of Chapter 203 of the laws of 1999, by extending through October 1, 2011, the authority granted by Environmental Conservation Law Section 71-1939 (c) and (d) to the Nassau County Health Commissioner to enforce certain provisions of the Environ- mental Conservation Law relating to water pollution control, including the general prohibition against water pollution and pollution of the marine district, and for the control of bulk storage of petroleum. These provisions previously were extended by chapter 246 of the laws of 2007 through October 1, 2009.

HOOPER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend chapter 203 of the laws of 1999, amending the environ- mental conservation law relating to extending Nassau county's authori- ty to initiate and enforce certain actions, in relation to the exten- sion of Nassau county's authority to initiate and enforce certain actions THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 203 of the laws of 1999, amending the environmental conservation law relating to extending Nassau county's authority to initiate and enforce certain actions, as amended by chapter 246 of the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows: S 2. This act shall take effect on October 1, 1999, and shall remain in force and effect until October 1, [2009] 2011, on which date it shall expire and be deemed repealed. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD10571-01-9
