BILL NUMBER: S6237 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in the city of Ogdensburg as the "Trooper Shawn W. Snow Street" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To designate a portion of state highway 812 in the city of Ogdensburg as Trooper Shawn W. Snow Street as a memorial to this courageous New York State Trooper. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1 designates the portion of state route 812 from state route 37 to the Ogdensburg Prescott International Bridge to be known as the "Trooper Shawn W. Snow Street". Section 2: States that the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system, and as an act of ceremonial nature the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act. Section 3: States that this act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
the state highway system in the city of Ogdensburg as the "Trooper
Shawn W. Snow Street"
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 343-x to
read as follows:
S 343-X. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
"TROOPER SHAWN W. SNOW STREET". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY
SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF OGDENSBURG CONSISTING OF STATE ROUTE EIGHT HUNDRED
TWELVE FROM STATE ROUTE THIRTY-SEVEN TO THE OGDENSBURG PRESCOTT INTERNA-
TIONAL BRIDGE SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "TROOPER SHAWN W.
SNOW STREET".
S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
as designated pursuant to section one of this act; provided that, to
avoid any confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,
the designation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be
one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not
be changed as a result of this act.
S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

[ ] is old law to be omitted.
