BILL NUMBER: S6827 TITLE OF BILL : An act to authorize the dormitory authority of the state of New York to sell certain land in the county of Queens to the Indian Cultural and Community Center, Inc. PURPOSE : To authorize the New York State Dormitory Authority to sell land, described in the legislation, to the Indian Cultural and Community Center, Inc. of Queens. JUSTIFICATION : In an effort to address the needs of the growing Indian Community, many of which who reside near Creedmoor property. Chapter 156 of 2006 allowed for an Indian-American Community Center to be established on a portion of Creedmoor property. This legislation would allow for additional property to be conveyed to the organization for fair market value. The Indian population has grown since the 1970s and granting access to a centrally located parcel of land would be of great value to them. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY : New Bill.
