AN  ACT  to  amend  the  state  finance  law, in relation to prohibiting
  reductions in appropriations for the support of education  during  the
  state fiscal year

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 40 of the  state  finance  law  is
amended by adding a new paragraph (f) to read as follows:
  (F)  NO APPROPRIATION MADE AT A REGULAR SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR
THE SUPPORT OF EDUCATION IN THIS STATE  SHALL  BE  REDUCED,  LIMITED  OR
OTHERWISE DIMINISHED IN ANY WAY PRIOR TO THE THIRTIETH DAY OF JUNE IMME-
DIATELY FOLLOWING THE STATE FISCAL YEAR FOR WHICH IT IS ENACTED.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
