BILL NUMBER:S5415 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the public authorities law relating to the membership composition of the metropolitan transportation authority board, in relation to extending the effectiveness of such provisions PURPOSE: Chapter 2 of the laws of 2010 extended from January 1, 2010 to January 1, 2012 provisions relating to the composition of the MTA Board to include two non-voting members (one to represent the riders and one to represent labor). This bill extends the sunset provision to January 1, 2014. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill extends chapter 2 of the laws of 2010 from January 1, 2012 to January 1, 2014. Section 3 is the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: The two non-voting members of the MTA Board serve rotating 18-month terms with 4 alternate non-voting members. FUSCHILLO, DILAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the public authorities law relating to the membership composition of the metro- politan transportation authority board, in relation to extending the effectiveness of such provisions THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the public authorities law relating to the membership composition of the metropolitan transportation authority board, as amended by chapter 2 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read as follows: S 3. This act shall take effect January 1, 1995 and shall expire and be deemed repealed on January 1, [2012] 2014 and upon such date the provisions of law amended by this act shall revert to and be read as if the provisions of this act had not been enacted. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11352-02-1
