AN  ACT  to  authorize  the  reestablishment of the Middletown community
  development agency

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (b) of subdivi-
sion  1  of  section  856  of  the  general  municipal  law or any other
provision of law to the contrary, the Middletown  community  development
agency,  created by section 601-a of the general municipal law, shall be
deemed reestablished upon the filing by the governing body of the  muni-
cipality  for whose benefit such agency is reestablished the certificate
required by paragraph (a) of subdivision 1 of section 856 of the general
municipal law and shall continue  in  existence  until  termination  and
dissolution pursuant to the provisions of paragraph (b) of subdivision 1
of  such  section; provided that, for purposes of paragraphs (a) and (b)
of subdivision 1 of such section, the special  act  of  the  legislature
referenced in such paragraphs shall be deemed to refer to this act.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
