Dinowitz) -- (at request of the Governor) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to opioid antagonists THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivisions 3 and 4 of section 3309 of the public health law are renumbered subdivisions 4 and 5 and a new subdivision 3 is added to read as follows: 3. ANY DISTRIBUTION OF OPIOID ANTAGONISTS THROUGH THIS PROGRAM SHALL INCLUDE AN INFORMATIONAL CARD OR SHEET. THE INFORMATIONAL CARD OR SHEET SHALL INCLUDE, AT A MINIMUM, INFORMATION ON: (A) HOW TO RECOGNIZE SYMPTOMS OF AN OPIOID OVERDOSE; (B) STEPS TO TAKE PRIOR TO AND AFTER AN OPIOID ANTAGONIST IS ADMINIS- TERED, INCLUDING CALLING FIRST RESPONDERS; (C) THE NUMBER FOR THE TOLL FREE OFFICE OF ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES HOPE LINE; (D) HOW TO ACCESS THE OFFICE OF ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES' WEBSITE; AND (E) ANY OTHER INFORMATION DEEMED RELEVANT BY THE COMMISSIONER. THE EDUCATIONAL CARD SHALL BE PROVIDED IN LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH AS DEEMED APPROPRIATE BY THE COMMISSIONER. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL MAKE SUCH INFORMATIONAL CARDS AVAILABLE TO THE OPIOID OVERDOSE PREVENTION PROGRAMS. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
