JAFFEE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the civil rights law, in relation to defining a "three- unit service dog team" and granting rights and privileges to such teams THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 47-b of the civil rights law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3-A. PERSONS WHO ARE PART OF A THREE-UNIT SERVICE DOG TEAM, WHILE ENGAGED IN CONTINUING TRAINING OF A SERVICE DOG, SHALL HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES SET FORTH FOR PERSONS WITH A DISABILITY IN THIS ARTICLE. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS ARTICLE, "THREE-UNIT SERVICE DOG TEAM" SHALL MEAN A TEAM CONSISTING OF A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY, A TRAINED SERVICE DOG, AND A PERSON OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN WHO HAS BEEN TRAINED TO HANDLE A SERVICE DOG.
