THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees AN ACT in relation to authorizing the village of Southampton, county of Suffolk to hire Gregg Keghlian to fill a full-time competitive posi- tion with the village of Southampton police department THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or any other law to the contrary, the village of Southampton, county of Suffolk, is hereby authorized and directed upon the approval of the village board of trustees and the police chief of the village of South- ampton, to appoint Gregg Keghlian, who is currently employed as a full- time court officer and part-time police officer with the police depart- ment of the village of Southampton, to a full-time competitive position as a police officer with the police department of such village. S 2. Gregg Keghlian shall be otherwise subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately. THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to authorize a certain individual to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the village of Southampton, county of Suffolk THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding section 58 of the civil service law or any other law to the contrary, Gregg Keghlian, who has been continuously employed by the village of Southampton, in the county of Suffolk, as a full-time court officer and part-time police officer with the police department of the village of Southampton, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer with the police department of such village. S 2. Gregg Keghlian shall be otherwise subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
