AN  ACT to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to requir-
  ing the department  of  agriculture  and  markets  to  evaluate  their
  support of farmers age sixty-two years and older

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 16 of the agriculture and markets law is amended by
adding a new subdivision 47 to read as follows:
  47. EVALUATE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE  STATE  OFFICE  FOR  THE  AGING,
PROGRAMS  AND  SERVICES  OFFERED  BY  THE DEPARTMENT TO ENSURE THAT THEY
SUPPORT THE NEEDS OF FARMERS, AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS ENGAGED IN  AGRICUL-
TURE,  AND  THE  PRODUCTION,  PROCESSING,  MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTING OF
FOOD, WHO ARE ALSO SENIORS, WHICH SHALL  MEAN  AN  INDIVIDUAL  SIXTY-TWO
YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
