BILL NUMBER:S5490 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the state finance law, in relation to deductions from salaries of employees of the state police PURPOSE: To allow employees of the division of state police to contribute to the NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund Inc, a charitable organization, through a payroll deduction. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of this bill amends State Finance Law section 201(15) to allow employees of the Division of State Police to contribute to the NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund Inc. through a payroll deduction. Section two of the bill provides that this act shall take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION: This bill seeks to afford employees of the Division of State Police the opportunity to directly contribute the NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund Inc. through the use of a payroll deduction. Since 1984, employees of the Division of State Police have been able to contribute directly through payroll deductions to the Trooper Foundation-State of New York Inc. This bill would simply add NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund Inc. to the payroll deduction system currently in place for employees of the Division of State Police.
