  printed to be committed to the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse

AN ACT requiring the office of alcoholism and substance abuse  services,
  in   consultation   with  the  department  of  health,  to  develop  a
  prescription drug abuse public awareness campaign

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. The commissioner of the office of alcoholism and substance
abuse services, in consultation with the commissioner of the  department
of  health,  shall  develop  a  prescription drug abuse public awareness
campaign regarding the dangers  of  misuse  and  abuse  of  prescription
drugs.  Such  public  awareness  campaign shall be made available to the
public by any means deemed appropriate by the commissioner of the office
of alcoholism and substance abuse services.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
