BILL NUMBER:S7443 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the transportation law, in relation to recycled concrete aggregate PURPOSE: Requires the commissioner of the department of transportation to conduct a study relating to the use and study of the use of recycled concrete aggregate SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the transportation law by adding a new section 17-c that outlines the use of recycled concrete aggregate in New York State. Section 2 sets an effective date of one hundred eighty days after this bill shall become law. JUSTIFICATION: Over the next several decades, New York State will need to reconstruct much of the infrastructure that is essential to the economic success of all of our communities. Worldwide, there is greater demand for basic building materials than ever before. This demand has increased the cost of many infrastructure projects due to regulations that often mandate the use of virgin materials that are often in short supply.
