LAVINE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prohibited practices of creditors THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 601 of the general business law is amended by adding a new subdivision 6-a to read as follows: 6-A. COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEBTOR OR ANY MEMBER OF HIS OR HER FAMILY OR HOUSEHOLD AT ANY MEDICAL CARE FACILITY OR ANY FACILITY LICENSED UNDER ARTICLE TWENTY-EIGHT OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW; OR REPRESENT THEMSELVES AS EMPLOYEES OF SUCH FACILITY IN ORDER TO COMMUNICATE A DEBT TO SUCH DEBTOR; OR PREVENT OR DISCOURAGE SUCH DEBTOR FROM RECEIVING MEDICAL CARE OR TREATMENT BY THE PRESENCE OF SUCH CREDITOR AT A FACILITY LICENSED UNDER ARTICLE TWENTY-EIGHT OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW.
