Facilitates enrollment in the child health insurance plan; directs the commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health, to develop a form with information regarding the existence of the child health insurance plan; further directs the commissioner of education to promulgate rules and regulations to require all public schools and school districts to disseminate such materials to families of students.

AN  ACT  to amend the education law, in relation to facilitating enroll-
  ment in the child health insurance plan

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 922 to
read as follows:
  S  922.  INFORMATION  PERTAINING  TO CHIPS. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL, IN
CONSULTATION WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH, DEVELOP A FORM WITH INFOR-
MATION REGARDING THE EXISTENCE OF THE CHILD HEALTH  INSURANCE  PLAN  AND
INFORMATION  REGARDING  ELIGIBILITY  FOR  BENEFITS  UNDER TITLE ONE-A OF
ARTICLE TWENTY-FIVE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH  LAW.  THE  COMMISSIONER  SHALL
PROMULGATE  RULES  AND  REGULATIONS  TO  REQUIRE  ALL PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND
SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE STATE TO DISSEMINATE SUCH INFORMATIONAL  MATERI-
ALS  TO  THE  FAMILIES OF ALL ENROLLED STUDENTS AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH
SCHOOL YEAR.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
it shall have become a law.
